The Castillo del Marqués de los Vélez was built in 1506 on the hillside above the town and from here you can see all of Vélez Blanco. Excellent road and motorway networks with very little traffic make the four airports that serve the area easily accessible. Alicante Airport approximately 1 hour 50 minutes, Almería 1 hour 30 minutes, Granada 1 hour 45 minutes and Corvera / Murcia 1 hour 15 minutes.
