description

Pazo de cervellón built in the xvi century The Pazo de Cervellón is a majestic manor house located in Pontevedra area. During the struggles against the French, it acquired a prominent role as it became a strategic supply point for food and ammunition for the brave countrymen who defended their territory. In particular, it was a crucial barracks for the parties blocking the passage from the river Minho to Paradanta, and played a fundamental role in the historic battle fought at the As Achas bridge. Built at the end of the 16th century, the Pazo de Cervellón stands out for its privileged location and its defensive characteristics, evidenced by the remains of walls and loopholes that can be seen in its structure. It is a solid rectangular mansion, the result of a reconstruction undertaken at that time. On one of its façades, two heraldic coats of arms and a stone cartouche with a historical inscription can be seen. There is also another coat of arms on the façade of the chapel and yet another on the large exterior staircase that leads up to the first floor. One of the highlights of the Pazo is the chimney with ball pinnacles that adorns one of the corners of the house. In the past, the Pazo was known for hosting the famous flea market in the adjoining square, known as Pazo do Feirón or Pazo do Conde de Cervellón, where the locals exchanged essential products for their livelihood. In addition, the property is located in a setting of great scenic beauty, which marks the beginning of one of the most beautiful trails in the area: the Sendeiro das Fragas e Levadas do río Calvo e do Deva. The Pazo of Cervellón occupies a plot of 26,943 m² and includes several structures in addition to the main residence, such as a chapel and another house that requires renovation. There are also unique elements such as a granary, a well and a cruceiro (stone cross). The property, with a total built area of 672m², is distributed over two floors: The ground floor is a basement. In the basement, several rooms are currently used as storage spaces and cellars. The first floor is a dwelling, all on one floor with adjoining rooms. From the kitchen-lareira there is access to an attic that will be consulted for its possible use. Access to the first floor via the impressive stone staircase leads to a large hallway from which you can access the various rooms. These are characterized by their luminosity and high ceilings, evoking the grandeur and splendor of past times. The ground floor has a kitchen equipped with a large open hearth fire which also allows access to the exterior and to the lower level. The kitchen is connected to a cozy living room with a fireplace. Along the corridor there is a bathroom with a shower, and also a bedroom suite with its own bathroom equipped with a bathtub. This room has access to another elegant living room with a stone fireplace and offers the possibility to enjoy magnificent views from its balcony. The garden of the Pazo is surrounded by a fortified stone wall, which provides privacy and security. Inside, there is a well, a granary and a stone cross, elements that add charm and uniqueness to the environment. Adjacent to the house, at a strategic angle, is the chapel, whose dimensions testify to its historical importance. The remains of nearby buildings can also be seen, revealing the modifications and mutilations suffered over time, even affecting the original floor plan, which may have been U-shaped or even an enclosed building with an interior courtyard. In short, the Cervellón Pazo, with its imposing architecture and privileged natural surroundings, stands as a real historical and scenic treasure. Its value as an investment property is high, offering a unique opportunity for those who wish to enter a place full of charm and timeless beauty.
