In the 15th century, the Carthusians of Scala Dei bought various towns and land in what is now Baix Priorat. They decided to build this vast country house for agricultural and wine-making to supply the Carthusian monastery. The climatic conditions, combined with the quality of the soil and the gently rolling hills, gave this country house the name of The Pearl of Priorat, and it also became a place of meditation and rest for the elderly monks of the community. The building is made up of the old country house, with leisure areas and bedrooms for guests, arranged around a large central courtyard with a swimming pool and a beautiful garden that gives a unique atmosphere to this spectacular country house. It has 12 bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom, some of them designed as an apartment, which includes a private living room and kitchen. The main country house is distributed over three floors: one for dining and leisure; the first floor, a wonderful complete property; and on the second floor, an open, loft-shaped space. It is worth highlighting the spectacular views from the entire building to the surrounding land, the town of El Molar, the municipality to which La Finca belongs, and the well-known Montsant mountain range, a protected natural park that presides over this rich wine-growing land of Priorat. The complex has its own wine cellar adjacent to the main complex. This is adapted to new wine-making technologies used by an external service. We also find another historic wine cellar designed for visits and tastings of the wonderful Priorat wine.
