This emblematic historic building is located in the historic centre of Coria, next to the Cathedral of Santa María de la Asunción and the Episcopal Palace. The complex has 3,430 m² built on a total plot area of 2,167 m². The 'Old' Seminary was founded in 1630 by Bishop D. Jerónimo Ruiz de Camargo as a residence for clerical training. Reformed from 1819 and expanded until 1845, the building retains the original layout and architectural elements of its educational and religious function. The complex includes a chapel with bell gable that preserves vaults decorated with Baroque motifs in blue and ochre tones, and a carved altarpiece that presides over the space. The square two-storey porticoed cloister, with semicircular arches and central fountain in the courtyard, represents one of the most valuable elements of the building, offering an exceptional setting for cultural events, exhibitions or celebrations. The multiple rooms are distributed across three floors that historically housed classrooms, dormitories, the vaulted library, the dining room, the kitchen and the cellars. Each space maintains its unique personality, inviting one to imagine new uses where the history of the place accompanies the present. The building preserves original constructive elements such as whitewashed walls, windows with semicircular arches, wooden carpentry and ceilings with exposed beams. Although it requires comprehensive restoration, it maintains its fundamental structure and offers an exceptional canvas for projects that value the authenticity of spaces laden with memory. It is located in an area of high monumental and tourist interest, with possibilities for cultural, hotel or institutional development. Coria, declared a Historic Complex, preserves Roman walls, cathedral, 15th-century castle and a rich heritage that makes it one of the most monumental destinations in Cáceres.
